Olympics
124 years after women first competed in the Olympic Games and 100 years after the Olympics were last held in Paris, the Olympics are returning to Paris for the 2024 Summer Olympics. Only 22 women participated in the 1900 Games, in five different sports. Exactly 50 percent of the athletes competing in Paris will be women this year, marking the first time the Olympics will have gender equality.
The Paris Olympics will feature 28 returning sports and 4 new sports, including breaking, making its Olympic debut, sport climbing, skateboarding, and surfing. The opening ceremony for Paris 2024 will be on July 26, with the parade of athletes being held on the Seine with boats carrying each national delegation ending in front of the Trocadéro. The closing ceremony will be just over two weeks later on August 11 at the Stade de France.
Coverage of the Olympics can be found across all NBC platforms in the United States, with a nightly “Primetime in Paris” on NBC. Other channels include USA Network, Entertainment Plus, NBC Golf, Gold Zone, NBC Universo, Telemundo, Paris Extra 1, Paris Extra 2, and Peacock.
